A hundred year old man-made lake |

Lac de Montsalvens is a reservoir situated in the Gruyère Alps, Canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. The reservoir dams the water of the Jogne River (or Jaunbach) and has a capacity of 12.6 million m³ and a surface area of 0.74 km2. It is located on the road to Jaun Pass, between the villages of Broc and Charmey. The interest of Lake Montsalvens for The Freshwater Project is to observe how an artificial lake has changed the landscape over the course of hundred years, especially the regularly flooded riparian forest.
